Online event with Otto English. Fake History: Ten Great Lies and How They Shaped the World. A talk, Q&A about the legacy of lying that has shaped our world. Wednesday 26th October, 20:00 to 21:30.

Otto English is the pen name of journalist and author Andrew Scott and many of his 126K Twitter followers turn to Otto’s powerful witty posts to kickstart the day. Labelled an ‘anti-Brexit firebrand’ and a ‘woke historian’ by Unherd writer Dominic Sandbrook, Otto is not one to shy away from controversy and his latest book Fake History: Ten Great Lies and How They Shaped the World debunks many of the myths that have formed our cultural and historical narrative.

Initially Otto wrote for television and theatre before moving into political journalism in 2010 and, from then, his articles appeared in The Independent, New Statesman, Daily Mail, Politico , Byline Times and other media. He has appeared on BBC News, BBC Radio 4 and LBC and on Byline Times‘ TV channel and his articles on British history and the country’s obsession with class appear on the Bylines website

Otto will talk about his book, discuss how ‘alternative facts’ have made a profound impact on all our lives and answer questions from the audience.
